👋 Welcome to the 96th issue of Out of Curiosity, a weekly newsletter promoting ideas to help get 1% better everyday.
My name is Reza, and every week, I go through nearly 100 pieces of content (from books and podcasts to newsletters and tweets), and bring you the best in this newsletter.
The game of life IS the point.
Win or lose, the process, strategy, and ups and downs of being totally IN the game is enough.
But most people never play. They work a job they hate, comfortable and bored. And they stay there.
Get in the game. Because in the end, that's all we have. The game of life.
What you measure is what you manage. Want to get better at anything? Track it.
The less you give a fuck about what other people think the more peaceful you'll feel.
If you hang around someone & feel like your energy was zapped out of your body take that as a signal to not hang around that person anymore.
I coordinate hard work with learning. I'm usually learning something if I'm working hard at something. I coordinate that with working on something that matters. So, if I've lost my why for why I'm working.
And then lastly if I'm working with people that I don't aspire to be or don't want to be around.
So it's people, purpose and this learning component.
If I have those three things the hard work is really fun. But If I don't have those three things, then perhaps the hard work feels futile unnecessary and more like labor than work.
