👋 Welcome to the 99th issue of Out of Curiosity, a weekly newsletter promoting ideas to help get 1% better everyday.
My name is Reza, and every week, I go through nearly 100 pieces of content (from books and podcasts to newsletters and tweets), and bring you the best in this newsletter.
I've learned the value of always just asking for something. The worst you hear is no, the best is you get what you want. Sounds like a win-win to me.
Closed mouths don't get fed. If you never ask, you'll never get anything you want. That's not a risk worth taking.
Ask for things, specifically when you've done the work to deserve it.
No one around you knows you want that *thing* if you don't say it out loud. People aren't mind readers, you need to open your mouth and verbalize your wants. The results will be astonishing. You'll often hear: "oh, I didn't even know. That's why it's so essential. Most just don't know what you want, but once you ask, they're so open to helping you.
Always just ask. No, you're not being needy or annoying. I hear that too often. People love to help you. You just have to overcome the fear of asking. So, go out and ask for what you want. Rejection may happen, but is something to embrace. Move onto the next thing.
What's meant to happen will happen. Let life do its thing, but power life by always just asking.
this is so true. realizing you have the potential for greater things but not pursuing them can make a driven person go crazy!
Don’t Care About What People Think. We all die in the end, do you really think it matters what people think of you?
Take More Risks. Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously.
Take Action. Don’t just sit there, do something. Without action, there is no outcome.
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
