#97: no outside validation
👋 Welcome to the 97th issue of Out of Curiosity, a weekly newsletter promoting ideas to help get 1% better everyday.
My name is Reza, and every week, I go through nearly 100 pieces of content (from books and podcasts to newsletters and tweets), and bring you the best in this newsletter.
You don’t burn out from working too much, you burn out from worrying too much.
Our time isn’t the greatest gift we can give to someone, our presence is.
Don’t look for outside validation, validate yourself. Better to get your dopamine from improving your ideas than from having them validated.
This is the entire aim of commitment: to sink into something, to let yourself fully surrender. When we refuse to do this, we end up contracting our ability to be at ease within ourselves. By avoiding commitment, we end up in a state of self-avoidance.
Turn off your mind. You will see things 25 minutes into a sauna session you can't see otherwise. Go for a long walk. Paddle to the middle of a lake. Voices will come. Paths will appear. Truths will be deafening.
Food is the most widely abused drug. Exercise is the most under-utilized antidepressant.
👋 Until next week,
